Early Orthodontics
While the American Association of Orthodontists® recommends an orthodontic screening by age seven, at Elite Orthodontics, our orthodontists and team welcome children starting at age 6. In addition to a screening, your family dentist may notice an issue that needs attention and suggest that you make an appointment for your child.
Childhood is a great time to address orthodontic problems. Your child’s permanent teeth have not yet come in and their jaws are still growing. While not every issue can be corrected quickly, early intervention can in some cases help avoid further costly treatment later in life or reduce the time required for later treatment, as well as the costs involved.
Early orthodontics can help provide more space if your child’s erupting teeth are crowding one another, preserve space for teeth that have yet to erupt and possibly reduce the need for a tooth extraction. In terms of development and self-esteem, orthodontic treatments can help preserve the health of your child’s smile, improve their appearance and create facial symmetry.
If your child is ready for their screening or if you have concerns about the alignment of their smile, call our offices for an appointment with Dr. Nathan Davis to learn more about early orthodontics in Buckeye, Arizona.
